’ So he’d take out some pictures and tell a little bit of the story, and as he was telling the story, I’d start to hear an idea for a song. When I was writing lyrics for [Oingo Boingo], I would write about abstract things or things that annoyed me. I could be bitter or facetious about something. That thing was that thing, and this is a different thing. Usually about three days later, I’d play him the song, and then he would tell me more of the story. It was the purest, simplest process I had in all the years with Tim. And literally, he’d come over and start telling me the story. Ten times we got together, he told me a story and I wrote the songs. I said, ‘Just tell me the story like you’re reading a book to a kid. I had never written anything where I told a story and wasn’t sarcastic in the process. It was a new experience writing lyrics for songs that were doing a complete narrative. So we started with the songs. The best thing to to is to just go, ‘Well, whatever. No matter what you do, you’re picking up something that’s sacred for some part of the culture, and if you think about that for two seconds, it’s just going to make you anxious.

Danny Elfman and T-Bone Burnett to Score 'Hunger Games'

As movie composers go, Elfman is practically a household name after his iconic collaborations with Tim Burton on projects like Batman, Beetlejuice and The Nightmare Before Christmas. He's best known for the distinctive 'Danny Elfman' sound, a somewhat spooky riff punctuated by a staccato string section, but his more recent work has been quite varied indeed, with films like Milk sounding very different indeed than his earlier... Now Hollywood Reporter says they've got a pair of talented composers working on the score: Danny Elfman and T-Bone Burnett. But everyone else is pretty excited about the upcoming movie adaptation, and with the talent involved - like Winter's Bone 's Jennifer Lawrence and Pleasantville director Gary Ross - is easy to see why. He's been nominated I still haven't read Hunger Games.
