HAMPTON — The trustees of the trust funds — which oversee the town's investment of the $15-million-plus Hampton Beach real estate fund — have a new member on the board. Selectmen voted unanimously last week to appoint John Troiano a trust funds trustee. Per state statute, selectmen have the authority to appoint a person to fill the seat for the remainder of the outgoing member's term. Troiano replaces Dave Hamilton, who tendered his resignation in June, in light of the board staying with Mackensen & Company as its investment manager. Born and raised in New York, Troiano attended Albany State University and received a bachelor's degree in psychology.

Calif. inmate's death ruled a suicide

Deputies conducting cell checks about 1:30 a. m. found Peter Zepeda, 31, of Santa Paula unresponsive and not breathing, sheriff's officials said. Zepeda was sentenced June 23 to 66 years and four months in prison for robbing two Ventura drugstores and a Santa Paula grocery store.
