San Jose Earthquakes draw 2-2 with Vancouver Whitecaps

Eric Hassli matched Wondolowski's goal total as the Whitecaps rallied twice from deficits in the entertaining match before an announced crowd of 8,122. The Earthquakes got some needed magic from Chris Wondolowski on Wednesday night but couldn't polish off the Vancouver Whitecaps in a 2-2 draw. San Jose snapped a three-game scoreless streak as Wondolowski scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season. In a crazy finish, the Quakes' Steven Lenhart, who had a frustrating night, missed to the right on a breakaway in the 84th minute as former San Jose goalkeeper Joe Cannon seemed caught in no man's land off his line. However, Vancouver, which has just two wins in 21 MLS matches this season, stole a point on the road against a leaky Quakes defense. Wondolowski wasn't exactly basking in the glow of his second two-goal effort of the season. Then, Lenhart's header off Bobby Convey's cross was tipped over the bar by Cannon. Defender Bobby Burling added, "Wondo bailed us out tonight, and we couldn't get his back.

Post Mortem on USA's Loss to Japan in FIFA Women's World Cup

 Yeah, they lost in the final game, they made it to the finals, THE FINALS, that means they beat just about every other team they could beat (except the Swedes), and they're arguably one of the best teams in the world.  Time to pour out the Nigori (that's unfiltered sake best served chilled), the Japanese Women's Team won the 2011 World Cup. In fact, the Americans were the best team in the world, having won this tournament in years past. )  They fought the Japanese women to a draw, and lost in a shootout, which can go either way.  America beats Brazil.  This time, it just didn't go America's way.  (I like the fact that Japan beat Sweden.  America lost. But when it comes to yesterday's final match, what can you say.
