We're particularly excited about the 35th annual St. Nicholas Greek Festival that takes place from 11 a. m. to 11 p. m. today and from 1 p. m. to 6 p. m. Sunday at the church, 40 Andrew Jarvis Drive, Portsmouth. Well, we're ready to share the Greek pastries, lamb, gyro, souvlaki, moussaka, spanikopita and the joyous traditions of Greek life and culture. Friends who had seen the first movie together when they were first-graders were there to see the last. Knock wood, it looks like we're going to have perfect weather this weekend for the many outstanding festivals taking place across the region. Mostly 18 and under, they have grown up with Harry Potter, and J. K. Rowling's characters and stories have been an important influence. It makes us happy just writing about it. We were very moved by the young men and women waiting in line for the midnight showings of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," in Newington Thursday night. It felt like a rite of passage from childhood to adulthood.
